Community Murals - Where creativity meets community power.
At Seekers Create, our murals aren’t just about painting walls — they’re about bringing people together, sparking joy, and celebrating what’s already strong in a community.
We use a creative, asset-based approach — working with local people to uncover the stories, skills and symbols that make each place unique. From school halls to high streets, we turn bricks into belonging.
Every mural is co-designed through playful, participatory workshops that invite all ages to take part — because art made with people, not for them, builds lasting pride and connection. Each wall tells a deeper story — and every brushstroke belongs to the community. Here are a few of our projects:
People of Paulsgrove
People of Paulsgrove is a bold, co-created mural designed with over 1,000 local schoolchildren, families, and residents. Spanning a huge community wall, the artwork weaves together personal stories, memories, and symbols of place — capturing the spirit, pride, and resilience of this unique Portsmouth neighbourhood. Led by Seekers Create, the project is a vibrant example of community art in action.
The Peacock of Pride – A Spark in the Park
“The Peacock of Pride – A Spark in the Park” is a vibrant mural created by the Seekers, inspired by the story of the Animal Guardians and their mission to protect Victoria Park from the Colour Snatchers. Through creative community workshops, we designed and painted a proud, colourful peacock—symbolising unity, nature, and the magic of working together. The mural celebrates the park’s beauty and the power of colour, imagination, and community action.
'Love & Hope' Community Mural for Suicide Awareness
A community mural for the Let's Get Talking About Suicide event in Victoria Park, Portsmouth. - The mural aimed to raise awareness about suicide and encourage open conversations about mental health. - An interactive mural, with poetry, doodles, community create element and family selfie section.
Banya Rainbow Phoenix
In collaboration with Banya fostering families, this vibrant mural features a majestic rainbow phoenix. Families from the community participated in an interactive workshop to add their unique, bespoke feathers to the phoenix, making it a collective masterpiece that symbolizes unity and diversity.
Guildhall Doodle Towers
This fully interactive art installation, measuring 6 meters by 6 meters, was a highlight at Comicon Portsmouth 2024. With over 6,000 visitors contributing to the creation, Guildhall Doodle Towers stands as a testament to the power of communal creativity and engagement.
Paulsgrove Library Mural - Up the Grove
Spanning 18 months, this mural project involved a series of art workshops with the Paulsgrove community. The resulting mural, aptly named "Up the Grove," reflects the collective effort and artistic expression of the participants, beautifully capturing the essence of the Paulsgrove community.
Adventure Playground Murals: Angel of the Grove and Grove Dragon
Two stunning murals, Angel of the Grove and Grove Dragon, were co-produced with the local community at the adventure playground. These artworks are the culmination of collaborative efforts, symbolizing the spirit and imagination of the participants who brought these mythical creatures to life.
Rowner Trust Community Sunflowers
As part of a Rowner Trust community engagement event, this inclusive mural was created along the curated Rowner Trail. The vibrant sunflowers mural reflects the collaborative spirit of the community, celebrating their unity and creativity.
Community Mural at Hilsea Lido
Seekers Create designed a community mural at Hilsea Lido in Portsmouth in collaboration with Portsmouth City Council. - The mural, part of the Hilsea Lines project, includes a rainbow and doodle. - This mural complements the existing art along Hilsea Lines.
Celebrating the Queen's Jubilee Mural at Portsmouth Guildhall
Seekers Create collaborated with children from the Harbour School. - The project celebrated the Queen's Jubilee and involved creating a mural in the basement of the Portsmouth Guildhall. - It featured a celebration event to showcase the children's contributions.
Walking Past
Engaging six local groups through community workshops, the "Walking Past" mural is prominently displayed on the side of Gosport's bus station. This mural illustrates the heritage of five local heritage walks and is supported by fully accessible digital and physical materials, enriching the community's connection to its history.
Victorious Festival Art Engagement
Seekers Create engaged with thousands of people of all ages during the Victorious Festival. - They facilitated art creation and had conversations with local collaborators, sowing creative seeds. - The event aimed to inspire creativity and foster connections within the community.
Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 17m Sail Mural
Seekers Create contributed to the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race by creating a 17-meter sail mural. - This mural played a crucial role in launching and engaging young people and families with the Clipper race, combining art and maritime exploration. These projects reflect Seekers Create's commitment to using art as a tool for community engagement, addressing societal challenges, and promoting inclusivity. Through their work, they encourage open dialogues and creative expression while making a positive impact on the communities they serve.
