Welcome to Portsmouth 100 Sparks, a centenary project celebrating the people, places, and moments that make our city shine.
Inspired by Portsmouth’s proud coat of arms, with its lion, unicorn, and guiding star. Seekers Create along with our partners at Spark Community Space and Shaping Portsmouth are working with the community to co-create The Portsmouth Colouring Book. This book invites our youngest citizens to explore their city through colour, creativity, and curiosity. Together with schools across Portsmouth, we’re bringing to life 100 Sparks: stories of courage, community, and innovation that have shaped who we are today. Each page is a celebration, a chance to colour, learn, and be inspired by the city we call home. Because in Portsmouth, community lights the way, and the next 100 sparks start with you.

The Portsmouth Diverse City Trail
As part of our 100 Sparks centenary celebrations, the Portsmouth Diverse City Trail brings the stories from our colouring book out into the real world. This family-friendly trail invites children and their communities to explore Portsmouth’s streets, parks, and landmarks, discovering the 100 Sparks that make our city so brilliantly diverse. From artists and inventors to sailors, scientists, and storytellers, each stop on the trail highlights a person, place, or event that has helped shape Portsmouth’s proud identity.
Armed with your Portsmouth Colouring Book Guide, you can follow the trail, collect stamps or doodle, and see our city in a whole new light. It’s a journey through time, creativity, and community, showing that Portsmouth’s true strength lies in its people and their stories.

We’re hunting for Sparks — not the kind that just fly,
