Throughout the last few decades, TV, cinema, Pop Culture, video games, and everything in between has been infatuated with an admirable fascination and adoration for all things ‘nerdy’! Today’s everyday culture is deeply enriched with superheroes, sci-fi, magic, anime, cosplay, and tabletop games, just to name a few. One event that celebrates everything and all things nerdy is Portsmouth’s very own Comic-Con!
Portsmouth Comic-Con is one of the seafront city’s most anticipated and sought-after events because of its spectacular reputation to provide its attendees with an unforgettable experience! Portsmouth Comic-Con is understandably the largest Comic-Con in the South Coast, and it brings the best in cinema, TV, comics, and Pop Culture. The two-day event (7th-8th May 2022) is rich with workshops, entertainment, guest appearances, and so on, making it an event to remember!
Meet Our Team!
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Here at Seekers Create, we aim to inspire individuality and creativity, and to provide anyone and everyone with the opportunity to create, which is why we will be at this year’s Portsmouth Comic-Con! Alongside aspiring to induce creativity, we are very passionate about providing everyone with equal opportunities and a safe space to learn, which is why we will be conducting our very own workshop at Portsmouth Comic-Con, which will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn Braille. A member of our team, Clarke Reynolds (The Blind Braille Artist), uses Braille to create intuitive and beautiful artwork, a unique way to incorporate, translate, and transform an element of his everyday life into astounding, original pieces of art. We take great inspiration from Clarke, he’s our very own superhero! We hope that our Braille workshop will help make the world more inclusive for vision-impaired folk and that perhaps it may even act as a point of creative inspiration for people, as it has for Clarke.
Portsmouth Diverse City Trail
Leading on from our Braille workshop, you can learn about Seekers’ ‘DC (Diverse City) Trail’ and partake in our very own ‘Comic-Con Trail’ throughout Victoria Park! This trail includes our Comic Book Braille Pages which contain their own secrets that are coded in Braille... By using Clarke’s special Braille key, you can decode 10 Pompey trail locations from the trail pages. Once you have completed the trail and decoded it all, you can enter Seekers’ free prize draw for the chance to win a Nintendo Switch! Because our trail is situated in Victoria Park, it is a short 2-minute walk from the Comic-Con site (Portsmouth Guildhall/Portsmouth Guildhall Square), so it is a perfect activity to complete whilst on a lunch break from the grand festival of comics!
