Find Your Thing: A Creative Community Collaboration
At Seekers Create, we believe that true change happens when communities are empowered to shape their own stories. That’s why we were proud to collaborate with Love Outdoors CIC on Find Your Thing—a project designed to help people across Gosport discover movement and connection in ways that feel right for them.
An Asset-Based Approach to Community Engagement
Rather than imposing a pre-set program, Find Your Thing embraced an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD)model, focusing on the strengths, skills, and passions already present in the four key areas of Rowner, Town, Forton, and Bridgemary. By listening to residents, co-creating activities, and identifying existing local assets—from green spaces to community champions—the project built something meaningful, lasting, and truly owned by the people involved.
Creativity as a Pathway to Connection
Seekers Create brought a unique creative lens to the project, using art, storytelling, and interactive engagement to spark conversations and unlock ideas. Our role included:
- Designing the Bird Box Challenge, an imaginative and visual way for people to share their movement preferences. - Co-hosting ThingFest, turning local parks into playful spaces where residents could try new activities. - Developing creative games and tools that made consultation fun, inclusive, and accessible to all ages. - Supporting community-led ideas to help sustain activities beyond the project’s initial phase.
A Lasting Impact
Through this collaboration, we saw the power of trust, creativity, and shared ownership in building stronger, healthier communities. Whether it was families discovering new ways to enjoy local parks, individuals overcoming barriers to movement, or new friendships forming through shared activities, Find Your Thing showed that solutions already exist within communities—we just need to help uncover them
This is just the beginning. By continuing to work with local partners and listening to the voices of the community, we’re excited to see how Find Your Thing grows and evolves in the future!
